Somehow up until my late twenties, I never watched Gundam despite being a mecha fan. So after a friend recommended me to watch Gundam Wing, I immediately became attached to the Gundam franchise as a whole. Heero Yuy quickly became my very first favorite in the entire Gundam franchise, and I had a huge itch where I really wanted to make him into a doll. The problem is, there isn't any existing default faceup which closely resembled Heero due to his rather unique eyebrow shape. On top of that, I eventually ended up picturing a very specific look I wanted for his faceup, namely having feathers in his eyeline as a homage to his own Gundam, namely Wing Zero EW.
And so I turned to the talented faceup artist (and the one who created the Super Dollfie Diamond head!), Aridede. She had the exact look I wanted with her extremely fine lines and her signature skill of drawing little things into animetic faceup eyelines. So I commissioned her, sent my head and waited around until his head came home on October, and fell in love with her incredible work which was exactly what I envisioned. This made Heero the very first doll in my collection to have a faceup done by an artist rather than a default provided by the maker, which opened a whole new door for me!
Alongside Van, Heero is the first doll to have his default attire sewn by me. The BJD hobby tends to force you to do something new to achieve what you want for your doll, so I took this opportunity to teach myself how to sew clothing for my dolls, and I am thankful to gain a new, very useful skill.
